Q  What is Companion Care?  
A 

Companion Care is a Healthcare Discount Plan. We arrange access for our members to medical, dental, pharmaceutical, chiropractic, vision and other healthcare providers who have agreed to offer their services at negotiated discounts off their usual and customary fees.

Q  How much of a discount can I expect when I use my Companion Care card?  
A

Discounts vary based on a number of factors such as geographic location, provider specialty, services performed, etc.  Generally, Members can expect to save 10% - 60% off the provider's usual and customary fees.

Q Are ongoing medical conditions included?  
A

Since Companion Care is NOT INSURANCE, all ongoing medical conditions are accepted.

Q How long must I wait before I can start using my Companion Care card?  
A

You can start using your Companion Care card as soon as you receive it in the mail; generally 7-10 days after you register.  And, there is no paperwork to fill out, and no limits on visits to your providers!

Q How much is the Companion Care membership fee? How can I pay?  
A

Companion Care offers three membership levels: The Basic Plan which includes physician, pharmacy, dental, vision, chiropractic, hearing and VIP Health & Wellness is only $9.95 per month. The Tourist Plan  which includes physician, pharmacy, dental, vision, chiropractic, hearing, VIP Health & Wellness and hotel and dining discounts is only $12.95 per month. The Premium Plan  which includes physician, pharmacy, dental, vision, chiropractic, hearing, TelaDoc™, VIP Health & Wellness, and hotel and dining discounts is only $19.95 per month.  Recurring monthly membership fees will be charged automatically to your debit card or credit card account on the same day of each month as your sign-up date.  Remember, all plans include all permanent residents of your household including both spouses, parents, children, grandparents and significant others!

Q How do I use Companion Care?  
A

Within 7-10 days after you sign-up, you will receive your personalized Companion Care Membership Kit in the mail.  The kit includes Membership Identification cards and a Member Information Guide that describes the benefits included in the Companion Care plan you have selected, and how to use them.  To use Companion Care, just present your Membership ID card to any participating provider and you will be eligible to receive discounted fees as long as you pay the provider in-full at the time of service.

Q Can Companion Care be used in conjunction with regular insurance plans?  
A

The Companion Care Physician Visit card will provide savings on a variety of different medical services and products; however, it is difficult to say if it will work with every insurance plan. The key is that it could help save the member money as they meet their specific deductible. The Companion Care Physician Visit Card will discount procedures that the insurance plan might limit or not cover at all, for example, pre-existing conditions, cosmetic surgery procedures, alternative medicine and many other specialties.

Q Can other family members use my Companion Care card?  
A

Companion Care allows everyone in your household to use one card at one low monthly rate. For your convenience, additional cards personalized for other members of your household can be provided upon request at an additional one-time fee of $2.50 per personalized card.  If you lose your card and require a replacement, the same $2.50 fee applies.

Q Why would a medical professional participate in the Companion Care Program?  
A There are many reasons. Some of the most important are:
  1. Patient care and treatment are put back into the physician's hands.
  2. The provider gets paid at the time of service. Many providers wait up to 120 days or more for payment by insurance plans.
  3. Office administrative costs are reduced. No paperwork to complete, file and follow up on.
  4. Providers may receive a net increase in revenue due to increased patient flow.
  5. Participation makes the provider part of an affiliation of like-minded professionals, who prefer not to be "under the thumb" of managed care.
  6. Companion Care provides members with quality, discounted healthcare.

Q How are discounts calculated?  
A

We negotiate rates with each provider in our networks based upon either a mutually agreed-upon fee schedule that details the specific amounts the provider can charge to our Members for various medical procedures or services, or as a percentage-off the provider's usual and customary charges.

Q What if I don't receive the correct discount?  
A

If you have any reason to believe you haven't received the appropriate discount for services from a participating provider, call us toll-free at (800) 800-7616.  We will review the charges and discounts for accuracy.  If you are legitimately entitled to a discount and haven't received it from a participating provider, we will make sure you are reimbursed for the difference between the amount you paid the provider and the amount you should have paid.

Q How do I locate a participating Companion Care provider?  
A There are three easy ways to locate a provider:
  1. Call the customer service number on the back of your Member ID card for the type of provider you want to locate.
  2. A directory of nearby providers is included in your Member Information Guide.
  3. Our easy-to-use provider locator can be found on the Web at www.companioncarecard.com/locate.
IMPORTANT!  Even if you find a provider using Options 2 or 3, we highly recommend that you call the appropriate customer service number to verify that provider's current participation in the plan.

Q What if my doctor does not participate in Companion Care?  
A You can nominate a provider by completing our nomination form which can be found in the "Members Only" section of this Website.  As soon as we receive your nomination request, we will contact the provider to discuss our participation guidelines.  If the provider is agreeable, we'll send the provider our application and credentialing information to determine if the provider qualifies according to our standards.  The application and credentialing process for providers can take up to six weeks to complete. Q What is the Companion Care cancellation policy?
A You may cancel your Companion Care membership at any time, and for any reason.  Simply notify us that you want to cancel your membership using the contact information at the bottom of this page. Top
Q What is the Companion Care refund policy?  
A If for any reason you decide to cancel your Companion Care membership during the first 30-days, we will immediately refund your membership fee to the credit card or debit card account you used when you signed-up.  Top
